I’ll admit I don’t have a character in mind who looks like this week’s FYEF actress, but I also want to give ideas to anyone else who might be writing. And because if I stuck with my Regency characters, we wouldn’t get much diversity.

I first read one of Sophie Jordan‘s historical romances at the beginning of last year and loved it. I’ve fallen behind in my reading, but I recently saw she released a paranormal YA, which looks awesome! And this is definitely a case where the cover is enticing me to buy the book, blurb-unseen. What do you think? Compelling or no?
Actually, if you look at her bookshelf, whether it’s YA or historical romance, her covers are gorgeous–I love the excess of rich fabrics in jewel tones). I hope her publisher’s art department get props for all their beautiful work.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, if you celebrated it. This week’s fun find is a website on which you can post artwork and buy prints of others’ artwork: Deviant Art. I’ve also found a lot of free/creative commons -licensed brushes for my Photoshop/G.I.M.P. programs, which I used to make my newest book covers. (Next week I’ll talk about Obsidian Dawn, the creators of the lace brushes I used as the divider in my covers, because they deserve to have the spotlight alone).
