I read Joanna Bourne‘s book, My Lord and Spymaster, a couple of years ago and I loved it. I wasn’t the only one. She won a 2009 RITA award from the Romance Writers of America for it. (They got good taste. *wink*). Anyway, in addition to being a great storyteller, Joanna Bourne is a sweetheart. I messaged her through Facebook last year, and she was kind enough to write me back at length about my question.
Just a note to authors everywhere: If you take the time to care about your fans, sincerely, they will become incredibly loyal. Just sayin’. I mean, I’ve never heard a reader complain that a beloved writer took the time to write them back. But I digress (I do that a lot, don’t I?).
Have any of you read her work?

Ooh I just love Joanna Bourne’s style. I just promoted The Spymasters Lady on my fb page last week. Such an intelligent writers, delving deep into historical intricacies while peppering the entire thing with brilliant dialogue and wonderful characters.
I’m really hoping she’ll decide to go to the RWA this June. I would absolutely love to meet her. You’re right. She has a warm personality, and obviously loves what she does. She seems happy to share all her wonderful experiences and expertise.

I borrowed The Spaymaster’s Lady a few years ago from the library and I loved it – especially the four plot twists. It’s one of those books I’d like to add to my collection. I’ve been meaning to reading this one…but I haven’t yet.
By the way, you should definitely read Firelight. I’m going to post my review tomorrow

I read The Spymaster’s Lady and loved it. I did a little review on Goodreads and posted a comment on her blog about it. She wrote me back, which I thought was awesome.
I agree about the author-reader connection. It doesn’t take much to lock in that fan!
