I read Joanna Bourne‘s book, My Lord and Spymaster, a couple of years ago and I loved it. I wasn’t the only one. She won a 2009 RITA award from the Romance Writers of America for it. (They got good taste. *wink*). Anyway, in addition to being a great storyteller, Joanna Bourne is a sweetheart. I messaged her through Facebook last year, and she was kind enough to write me back at length about my question.
Just a note to authors everywhere: If you take the time to care about your fans, sincerely, they will become incredibly loyal. Just sayin’. I mean, I’ve never heard a reader complain that a beloved writer took the time to write them back. But I digress (I do that a lot, don’t I?).
Have any of you read her work?

The first writer of the new year is Zoë Archer, a writer of “Historical Paranormal Adventure Romance.” And she does a fabulous job of weaving all that adventure and magic together. I started with the Blades of the Rose books, and at the time of this writing, I’m only halfway through Warrior, but I plan to have them finished by the time this actually gets posted (road trip *grin*).
Anyway, check out her books and let me know what you think!

EDIT: I have now finished Warrior, and have started Scoundrel, the second book in the series. These characters are AWESOME! Her writing is intense, but poetic at times. Do yourself a favor and check it out, especially if you like romance and adventure together!
I first read one of Sophie Jordan‘s historical romances at the beginning of last year and loved it. I’ve fallen behind in my reading, but I recently saw she released a paranormal YA, which looks awesome! And this is definitely a case where the cover is enticing me to buy the book, blurb-unseen. What do you think? Compelling or no?
Actually, if you look at her bookshelf, whether it’s YA or historical romance, her covers are gorgeous–I love the excess of rich fabrics in jewel tones). I hope her publisher’s art department get props for all their beautiful work.
Have any of you read Sophie’s books? Anyone read Firelight?

Hi guys! This week’s Writer Wednesday is a woman whose books I recently discovered–thanks to a blog post she did–but she’s no debut author! I can’t remember which blog it was, but I remember laughing so hard I nearly ruined my keyboard (bad idea: drinking and reading funny people’s comments). I mentioned I hadn’t read romantic suspense (and that I was a newbie to her books). She suggested a “freequel” (free sequel) to her current release, available on her website. I think I made it to page 5 in the “freequel” before I clicked “Buy” in the Kindle Store. Hot, HOT, HAWT!!! I just had to read more of Sam and Zach’s story. And I did. And now I’m waiting impatiently for the next book, which is Marc’s story. And then Vivi’s story.
Rocki, when are the release dates again? Are you sure you don’t need another beta reader?
For the rest of you, if you haven’t read Roxanne St. Claire’s books yet, go do it now. You can start how I did, with the freequel, and then go find Edge of Sight on Amazon or Barnes & Noble or whatever store you buy from. You will want to have it ready so you only have to click “Buy” when you’ve read a couple of pages.
Have you read any of her books? Have you read this one?

This week’s Writer Wednesday recommendation is an author I recently discovered, thanks to her eZine, The Season for Romance, where she holds giveaways, posts reviews, and put on a writing contest. Over the course of the writing contest, I found out she’s from my neck of the woods–and we’re members of the same RWA chapter! Well, that moved her book right to the top of my TBR pile, and I wasn’t disappointed. Her name? (okay, lazies, you could look at the title of the post, too. *grin* But I suppose I need a place to link her website, which is gorgeous and the subject of next week’s Fun Finds) Beverley Kendall.
Her first book, Sinful Surrender, kept me reading through the night and I finished it in almost one sitting. Her second book, A Taste of Desire, is due out in January, and I can’t wait. I’m trying to convince her she needs someone to read the book and make sure there are no typos before the release date. I don’t think she’s buying it.
Anyway, go out and read Sinful Surrender (it’ll keep you warm during the holidays, hehe), so you’re ready when A Taste of Desire comes out!
